Melissa is a Yoga Alliance registered E-RYT200 Continuing Education Provider (YACEP®) and YOGAqua certified Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga Teacher from Pittsburgh, PA. Growing up an avid waterskier and a mermaid at heart, Melissa feels at home on the water, near the ocean, or exploring the world with wanderlust. Melissa has been teaching yoga since 2010 and sees her practice as a tremendous source of balance and healing. Yoga is a gift that has helped her overcome the life altering medical challenges of stroke and chronic migraine.
She was first introduced to SUP while living in Southern California. But it wasn’t until she returned home to Pittsburgh and its three rivers that she truly became an avid paddler. Soon, she was combining her love of yoga and her newfound passion for paddle boarding, routinely challenging herself to practice poses on her board. Eventually, this would inspire her to combine her two great loves and add SUP yoga to her regular teaching schedule.
Melissa was thrilled to share her experience and passion for SUP Yoga at this year’s Wanderlust festivals. As an instructor, she brings a unique sense of empowerment and non-judgement to her classes, teaching in a way that provides a safe place for students to explore and break boundaries. Her classes are always challenging with a focus on Sthira and Sukha - the balance between effort and ease.
Melissa recently join the team at BOGA Surf & Paddle Company as a Master Instructor for the FitMat by BOGA Aquatic Fitness Platform. She will be leading certifications and trainings across the country in addition to her public BOGAFiT classes and prehabilitative cross training of collegiate and high school athletes.
